Notification Settings
Overview
Notification settings let you control which activities trigger notifications and how they are delivered. For each notification type, you can toggle individual channels (in-app, email, and push) on or off independently.
Accessing the Settings Screen
Steps:
User icon in the upper-right corner > "Settings" > "Notifications" tab
Notification Types and Channels
There are 6 notification types. Available channels vary by type.

Defaults: All available channels are enabled by default.

Comments
- Someone commented on your content
- Someone replied to your comment
Follows
- Someone followed you
Mentions
- You were mentioned in a post or comment

Reposts
- Someone reposted your content
Likes
- Someone liked your content
Announcements
- Official announcements, maintenance notices, and updates from Memoreru
How to Change Settings
- Open the "Notifications" tab in Settings
- Find the notification type you want to change
- Click the toggle for each channel (in-app, email, push) to turn it on or off
Changes take effect immediately.
About Push Notifications
Push notifications require browser permission to work.
How to grant permission:
1. Turn on push notifications in the notification settings
2. Your browser will display a permission dialog
3. Click "Allow"
If you have already granted permission, it takes effect immediately with no dialog shown. You can change browser notification permissions at any time through your browser settings.

How to access:
Click the notification icon (bell) in the upper-right corner
What's displayed:
- Unread notification count
- Summary of each notification
- Notification timestamp
Read / Unread Status
Marking as read:
1. Click a notification
2. It is automatically marked as read
Or
Mark all as read:
Click the "Mark all as read" button
Troubleshooting
Not Receiving Notifications
Things to check:
- Is the notification setting turned on?
- For email: is the registered address correct? Check your spam/junk folder.
- For push: check your browser's notification permission settings.
Receiving Too Many Notifications
What to do:
1. Turn off notification types you don't need
2. Disable email notifications and use in-app notifications only
3. Turn off push notifications to check notifications on your own schedule

Q1. Can I turn off all notifications?
A: Yes, you can turn off each notification type individually. Turning off all toggles means you will receive no notifications.
Q2. Can I mute notifications from a specific user?
A: Per-user notification settings are not available in the current version. Unfollowing the user will reduce the number of notifications related to them.
Q3. Can I change the notification sound?
A: Notification sound customization is not available in the current version. You can adjust notification sounds through your browser or OS settings.
